The engine drivers wear the black uniform and black caps typical of the time. Since the work on the so-called steam horses was very dusty and sooty, hard-wearing black work clothes were a good idea. The engine drivers stand in a typical position and can be used in pairs. A train driver stands on the right in the driver's cab, rests his arm and looks out of the window. The driver on the left operates the controls. Unmanned locomotives are unattractive and unrealistic on model railroad layouts. Steam locomotives can be decorated realistically with the train drivers.
