Electric locomotive Rh 372 of the Czechoslovak State Railways.
In the 1980s, CSD and DR decided to purchase two-system locomotives in order to simplify the constantly growing traffic and operational processes in cross-border traffic on the Berlin-Dresden-Prague route.
However, the locomotive builder in the GDR, LEW Hennigsdorf, was in full swing at that time, so that the Czech locomotive factory Skoda, which already had a wide range of experience with such machines, received the order. The CSD series ES 499.1 and 499.2 formed the basis. However, new territory was entered with the German power grid 15 kV/16 Hz. The double order included 15 class 372 locomotives for the CSD and 20 class 230 locomotives for the DR.
The universal machines were used in passenger and freight trains. With an hourly output of 3,260 kW, a top speed of 120 km/h is reached. In Germany, the series is affectionately known as the "dumpling press", while in the neighboring country the Czech equivalent is called "Bastard".
