The electric locomotives of the Ae 3/6 series were procured in several orders from 1921 to 1929. Locomotive 10700 comes from the workshops of MFO and SLM. Due to the long procurement time, technical innovations were also installed. This increased the power of the locomotives from 1,450 kW to 1,600 kW. Thanks to the good running characteristics, the maximum speed could also be increased. From 1929 from 90 km/h to 100 km/h and for the more powerful locomotives (from No. 10637) in 1937, after adjustments to the trailer axle bogie, to 110 km/h.
Locomotive 10700 was based in the Bern depot from 1927 to 1986. It is still housed in the Olten depot as an operational historic vehicle and belongs to the SBB Historical Heritage Foundation (SBB Historic).
