In order to replace the obsolete M 131.1 series railcars, ČSD purchased new two-axle diesel railcars with serial designation M 152.0.
Delivered from 1975, the series vehicles were powered by a 155kW inline six-cylinder engine and reached a top speed of 80km/h.
There were 56 seats in the passenger compartment.
